A message from the Student Association of George Brown College’s Board of Directors:
“The news of recent developments in Ukraine and Eastern Europe has inspired alarm amongst many members of the student community. What is unsettling global news for all, is also a distressing personal matter for those whose families, histories, and cultures are bound to the region.
The Student Association extends our care and support to all students affected by the current conflict in Ukraine, and recognizes that the impacts of this conflict are far-reaching and complex. We offer our solidarity with Ukraine and Ukrainian citizens across Canada and the world. We recognize that the acts of a government do not necessarily reflect the will of the people, and hold solidarity with Russian citizens who bravely oppose this violence. Now and always, we continue to support efforts towards peace. SAGBC supports are available to students who need them: the SAGBC Health Benefits program provides GBC students with free counselling through WeConnect’s Student Assistance Program. This service is available 24/7 and in over 100 languages. Call 1-888-377-0002 to speak with a trained counsellor. To contact the Student Association Board of Directors, please email the Director of Communications and Internal, Sri Krishna Rajan, at DirCommunicationsInternal@Sagbc.ca.”
