SafeWalk provides walk accompaniment to students, staff, and visitors of the George Brown College community. We walk on-campus and off-campus up to 2 km. It is an initiative of the Student Association of George Brown College.
We are available for walks at all three main campuses (Casa Loma, St. James and Waterfront), stationed by the college’s welcome desks. You can also flag us down any time when on patrol in our yellow SafeWalk vests to get a walk.
The service is available Monday to Friday in the evenings. The service does not operate during the winter and spring breaks, and other days the college is closed.
SafeWalk staff work in pairs to complete walks within a two-kilometre radius from campus with any student, staff or visitor of the college. SafeWalk staff have extensive training in First Aid, CPR, AED, consent, sexual assault awareness, how to respond to a sexual assault disclosure, Naloxone administration, and Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour (UMAB).
SafeWalk staff also promote safety awareness and health education. SafeWalk is a pro-active safety measure that improves campus life by creating a safer environment for all.
Staff also conduct nightly safety audits of the campuses, helping to ensure safer spaces for all.
Can’t meet us? Can’t find us? Let us come to you. Call, text, or WhatsApp us at 1-888-210-SAFE (7233) after 6:15 p.m. to have a SafeWalk team meet you anywhere on campus. You can also book a walk online.
