While many celebrated Thanksgiving, the world bore witness to the devastating acts committed in Israel and Palestine. We at the Student Association of George Brown College recognize these heartbreaking reports, and images of the violence and devastation taking place in these parts of the world, have a profound and lasting impact on students and members of the GBC community.
On behalf of the SAGBC, we recognize that there are many who have connections to the Middle East and may be overcome with worry and concern for family, friends, and loved ones. Our collective thoughts go out to those affected by this ongoing conflict.
For those in need of support, the Student Assistance Program provided by the Health Benefits program- WeConnect, can provide access to compassionate and confidential care 24/7 – in more than 100 languages. Free counselling support is available by calling at 1-888-377-0002, or virtually at www.wespeakstudent.com
We understand the far-reaching implications which come from the complexities associated with this conflict and encourage GBC students to reach out to the Student Association, www.studentassociation.ca and GBC counselling, https://www.georgebrown.ca/current-students/services/counselling for additional assistance.
