On Behalf of the Student Association of George Brown
The Student Association of George Brown extends its deepest concern and heartfelt solidarity to the people of Colombia following the devastating earthquake that has impacted communities across the country.
Our thoughts are with all those affected, especially members of the George Brown community who may have family, friends, and loved ones in the regions impacted by this disaster. We recognize that events such as these can cause significant stress, uncertainty, and emotional hardship, particularly for students who are far from home and concerned about the well-being of those they care about.
To our Colombian students and community members: you are not alone. We stand with you during this difficult time and recognize the strength and resilience of the Colombian people in the face of adversity.
We also acknowledge and stand in solidarity with Latin American students and student groups across our campuses, including those who may be supporting friends, family members, and communities affected by this tragedy.
The Student Association is here to support students affected by this event. Help and resources are available through the Student Association and George Brown Polytechnic.
Students seeking support, information, or direction are also encouraged to visit any Student Association office location or contact our team directly. We are here to help connect students with available resources and services.
In moments like these, we are reminded that our community extends beyond borders. As a diverse student community, we come together to support one another, offer compassion, and ensure that those affected know they are not facing these challenges alone.
We also recognize the ongoing efforts of emergency responders, relief organizations, and local communities working to support those affected and assist with recovery efforts across Colombia.
For students and community members who wish to support relief efforts, we encourage the use of verified donation channels, including the Colombian Red Cross emergency response fund.
We extend our thoughts, strength, and support to the people of Colombia and to every member of our community carrying the weight of this tragedy.
Additional information and messages of support may also be shared through Student Association communication channels in the coming days.
